The Midcoast Outreach and Peace Center operates under the capable
leadership of Sue Rockwood as Coordinator. We strive to plan relevant
activities to be staged at the Meeting House on a regular basis.
As Clerk of the Program Committee for MOPC, I invite members of the
meeting and others to send me/us your suggestions for possible speakers
or other programs that might be presented under the auspices of MOPC.
In addition to our own planned events the Midcoast Outreach and Peace
Center has adopted the
Ecumenical Diaper Bank as an
initiative to which we provide administrative and other support. Sue
Rockwood, our Coordinator, is co-manager. We also allowed a Diaper
House to be built in the meetinghouse parking area for storage of
diapers. For further information or to volunteer please
Our Coordinator also helps to maintain an e-mail list and calendar for
United Against Racism, an affiliation of churches,
individuals, and other groups in our area who are committed to internal
study and reflection about white privilege and racism, fostering
dialogue in our community about dismantling racism, and engaging in
public witness. Click here
for more information.
I ask again to receive helpful suggestions for speakers or issue
programs that might be held in the Meeting House in the future. You may
know of someone suitable who will be in the area this summer or a local
person who has recently had direct experience in relation to current
issues of concern.
Please send me your ideas and suggestions so that we can consider them
in timely fashion so as to build up our program outreach. Thank you.

The Peace Center grows from a
commitment to peaceful ways to resolve conflict and ways of living that
protect our natural environment. Through public dialogue in our Midcoast
Maine communities we seek to understand and support policies and practices
that promote peace and environmental justice.
Since its founding in 2008,
The Center has convened public dialogues and held film series on U.S.
foreign engagements in conflicts in the Middle East, Central America and
Asia, on issues of sustainable farming and fishing in Maine and on
alternative energy resources in Maine. These programs are convened in
collaboration with like-minded groups and congregations. Each gathering
seeks to share personal and professional concerns and to take collective
initiatives to witness and strengthen our community commitments to peace
and environmental justice.
